Today STC Houston received an e-mail from Steve Skojec at the STC Home office in Fairfax, VA. Steve reports that Hurricane Sandy is headed for their area and provided the following information (quoted directly from Steve’s e-mail):

I’d also like to note that here at the STC Office, we’re preparing for Hurricane Sandy, which is making its way straight for us early next week and is set to combine with another storm to create a real mess in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US. In the event that we suffer widespread power outages here like we did with the storms this past July, we’ll be unreachable until we can get back online. Further, since our iMIS server is hosted in our building, a long-term power outage at the office means that anything that authenticates against our server (website logins, MySTC, chapter logins on sites that use our authentication, online membership application) will NOT be working. Hopefully this won’t be an issue, but I wanted you to know ahead of time that we’re hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.

If the STC office does go out of commission next week, I will do my best to keep you all informed about when they will be back online.
