Meeting and Chapter News

Linda Oestreich generously offered to share her slides from her informative program she gave us in February, Information Design – Scratching the Surface

The March webinar was a major success. On Monday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m., Joe Welinske presented the webinar, An Aggressive Approach to Concise Writing.  

In April, the program meeting will be at the University of Houston Downtown. Join us Tuesday, April 14, at 1099 North (10th floor, Main Building), from 5:30 to 7:30pm for the following discussions:

  • An MSTC Program Introduction: The Benefits of Having a Master’s Degree in Technical Communication – Natalia Matveeva, Associate Professor (Professional Writing and Technical Communication, MSTC Graduate Director, English Department)
  • Technical Documentation in the Oil & Gas Industry – Jillian Hill, Assistant Professor (Professional Writing and Technical Communication, English Department)
  • The Use of Plain Language in Government and Business – Cathy Sampson, MSTC Graduate Student.

Also in April, a Virtual  Regional TechComm Awards Evening on Thursday, April 237:30 – 8:30 EDT, (6:30 – 7:30 CST). Awards for the winners of this year’s regional competitions will be presented. You must register to attend. STC Houston will recognize the Houston winners in person at the June meeting.
