Statistics from the 2007-2008 Competition

Here are a few statistics about this year’s competition that you might find interesting. This year the Houston chapter sent the Atlanta, Georgia chapter (our trading partner) 92 entries.
Here is the breakdown:

14 for Online, of which 4 received Merit awards, and 3 received Excellence awards (50% received awards)

15 for Technical Art, of which one received Merit, 3 received Excellence, and 10 received Distinguished. This is a remarkable achievement (93.3% received awards). The graphic artists outdid themselves this year

62 for Tech Pubs, of which 20 received Merit, 14 received Excellence, and 4 received Distinguished (61% received awards)
Overall, 63% of our entries received awards, indicating once again the outstanding quality of work done by technical writers in our community (which includes writers from Austin, College Station, and our satellite chapter in Lafayette, Louisiana). In addition, we had a number of non-members also participate. The awards are also distributed across a wide range of companies, indicating the breadth of talent in the communities that the Houston chapter represents and serves.
The total number of entries is down slightly from last year, but our chapter did have participation from a broader range of companies.
